Smoker and Formal and More...Oh My!

First of all, Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

This past Sunday APO's Rush Week concluded with Smoker. We were lucky enough to have two alumni come back and speak to the chapter and our 28 new pledges. Raymond Feilner (Fall '03) spoke on the cardinal princple of Leadership, using the very memorable metaphor of Mr. Potato Head to describe how we can grow in our leadership abilities. Our keynote speaker, Andy Karcher (Fall 2002), reminded everyone just what an amazing organization APO is with some stories from the past and advice for the future.

This week our Formal Chairs, Kelsey Cler and Allison Walton, officially announced the theme for this year's Formal: Night of the Cherry Blossoms The evening will be decked out Oriental style. A reminder that Formal will be taking place on Saturday, April 12th.

This week's Alumni of the Week was Kari Durham. Kari, a Red Rose, pledged in Fall 1999. During her time in APO she held the positions of Historian, Brotherhood, VP of Regular Service, and Pledgemaster. Kari is a Gold Sash recipient, and is known in the chapter for bringing the Birthday Song, which is still used today. Kari is now living in her hometown of Des Moines, IA with her boyfriend, Dusty (pictured), where she just opened her own State Farm Agency.

Finally, please see the post below this one. I thought it would be fun to have you comment with some of your favorite APO memories! I look forward to seeing what you all have to say!
Take Care,
