Camp T-Bird...Hot Damn!!

Epsilon just got back from a great weekend of brotherhood and service at Camp Thunderbird! Camp continues to be one of the chapter's favorite activites every semester. I decided it would be fun to blog about camp through pictures, so here you go!

Camp began with the traditional Nicknaming Ceremony, skits, songs, and smores around the camp fire.

Friday evening continued with our annual Mr. Epsilon Pageant. This year's theme was "Women in the Workplace", and the winner was Kevin Peterson (the nun on the left).

The chapter participated in a variety of service projects including leaf raking, filling potholes, building a beach at the lake, and cleaning windows.

Here's the whole chapter at camp. We've got a pretty awesome bunch these days :-D

We were also joined by some of our amazing alumni, from left: Matt Lucas, Greg Thompson, Marlene Clark, Jim Roach, Julie Hanch, Raymond Feilner, and Andy Karcher. In addition some of our friends from Epsilon Pi chapter at SIUE joined us for the entire weekend.

As usual, Camp T-Bird was a blast! The chapter was so excited to see some of our alumni, and we would love to have even more there in the future!

Alumni Make the World Go 'Round :-)

Well, it's been a little while since my last post, so I think it's time to get everyone up to speed on a few things. First of all, the alumni updating project has been going really well all semester! I've heard back from a lot of you, and I've even been able to reconnect with some people who haven't heard from the chapter in awhile. If you have yet to send in your updated information, or if you can help me reconnect with ANY of the people on the lists I sent out a couple of weeks ago, please feel free to send that information whenever you get the chance. Also, I'd still love for people to comment on the post two below this one with some of their favorite memories from their time in Epsilon. Only one person has so far, so you should add to the fun! Finally, I'll cover some important information that may interest you:

Camp...Hot Damn!: As usual, Epsilon will be attending Camp Thunderbird this spring for a weekend of brotherhood and service. And yes, the annual Mr. Epsilon pageant will most definitely be taking place! This year we will also be joined by some of our brothers from the Epsilon Pi chapter at SIUE. Camp will be taking place March 28 and 29. If you can come for either day, we'd love for you to join us!

Formal 2008-Night of the Cherry Blossoms: Our Formal Chairs are working hard to hold a really enjoyable night for us, and this is a great event for alumni! Formal will be taking place at the El Kadir Shrine Club (2401 S Baltimore St) on Saturday, April 12 from 8pm-Midnight. We also have two other get-togethers in the works for that weekend. Tentatively, any alumni who come in town on Friday night will be getting together for some fun at one of the local bars. In addition, the week of Formal will be coinciding with Advisor Appreication Week this year. Instead of our usual lunch with the advisors during the week, we've decided to have a potluck lunch on Saturday afternoon so that not only actives and advisors could come, but alumni as well! This lunch will be a great opportunity for you to reconnect with our beloved advisors and meet some of Epsilon's current members. The time and place are still TBD.

Summer Alumni Event: This year we are hoping to plan an Epsilon Alumni event during the summer in Columbia, MO. The idea has been floating around for awhile between myself, Andy Karcher (Fall 02), and Mom. The hope is that by having it in a central place like Columbia, more folks will be able to join us...and Mom plans on attending, too! The details will be in the works over the next couple of months, but as of right now the event is set for Saturday, July 12. Pencil it in now, and hopefully you'll be able to join us!

I've got two Alumni of the Week to mention this time around. First, Liz (Foerstel) Peuster (Fall 00) paid the chapter a personal visit a couple weeks back during a trip up to Truman. Liz got to see how meetings run these days, and she spoke to the chapter. Liz advised everyone to take advantage of the time they have in Epsilon because it really is an amazing organization. Upon finding out that two of our current members are engaged, she also told the chapter that she condones brother-on-brother love ;-)

Last week our Alumni of the Week was Katie Hartmann (Fall 03). Katie is currently attending graduate school at Illinois State University in a school psychology program. She also volunteers at a Latina mother's support group. In her spare time she takes bellydance classes, teaches aqua aerobics, and salsa dances.
