Nickname: I cannot remember for the life of me.

Favorite APO moment: Being elected President. It was a very humbling experience to be chosen to lead such an awesome group of servant leaders after only having joined two years prior. For me it also meant complete acceptance from my peers (I was the first openly gay President of Epsilon to my knowledge). It doesn't sound like much today, but ten years ago it was huge for me in my own path to self acceptance. I took great pride in our members and their outstanding displays of leadership, friendship, and service. Also, the semester (spring '04) I spent creating/filming/editing APO: Trad'n Spacez & Epsilon Cribs episodes (do you still do that?) instead of working on my senior portfolio. Eek!

How APO impacted your life: I joined halfway through my time at Truman during a time when I was truly figuring out who I was, facing rejection by some, and learning to love and accept myself. APO gave me a place where I could just be me, without pretense, accepted, and nurtured. As a quiet introvert, APO gave me a safe place to grow and test new boundaries, namely through one of our core values, leadership. Getting up in front of everyone to speak during meetings for nearly two years gave me confidence and practice that would lead me into the teaching profession, and beyond. It's hard to fully put into words, but Epsilon no doubt had an big impact on my life, and I would not be who I am today without the love and support of it's members and advisors during my time at Truman.
