Hey everyone!

Hello to all of Epsilon's amazing Alumni. For those of you who don't know me, I'm your new alumni secretary Josh Soto. So this summer I have a couple things i want to get a start on. I am hoping to have 2 alumni get food/fun/service activities. One in St. Louis and one in Kansas City. Now is where I need some help. I would like to hear from you guys if there is interest in having those planned events and maybe some help on some ideas for the events on things that interest you guys. My email is jes089@truman.edu just hit me up and we will get this going. Get excited for this semester. My next post will have some tentive dates with things going on in the chapter next semester. My hope this year is to get as many alumni at camp as possible so I am going to get you that date ASAP so you all can come.

Excited to get to know you all and in LFS,
Josh

PS. Up there is a picture of me with some lovely brothers for the E-PI chapter so you all can see who I am.

Farewell to the Semester!

Hello everyone!

The school year has ended and summer has begun. Now for a little catch-up on the happenings of Epsilon.

Epsilon activated 46 pledges into active brother on April 17, 2009. These brothers were excited to be done with pledging and eager to start making their mark on Epsilon as actives.

The two other big events during the last few weeks of the semester were Special Olympics (April 18th) and the Adair County Relay for Life (April 25th). Epsilon's own Angie Otten was honored for her efforts against cancer at Relay. Both events were a success with Relay managed to raise a record amount. As you might see in pictures, the theme for the event for Epsilon was trolls which caused some interesting hairdos.

38 seniors joined the ranks of the Alumni at Senior Wills on April 28th. Some wills were touching and some were hilarious (ex. one alum gave another a trick gun which caused that person to shock themself). Past traditions such as the baseball glove given to the biggest baseball fan and certain nicknames were passed onto the next generation of Epsilon actives. Most of all, it was proper sendoff that honored the efforts of these fine men and women during their active careers.

That was the conclusion of the semester. It was a great semester and I thank each and everyone of you that help make this semester the success that it was. All I ask is that you continue to make your presence in Epsilon known because the chapter enjoys getting to know you all and wants to continue to feel that connection to Epsilon's past. Now that I become an Alumni, I remember the cook-out from formal weekend. I remember the sense of comradery that was shown between Alums that may not have seen each other for a long time. To see that connection reminds me of the bond we all share because of this organization and continue to have long after we have left Truman. As I leave you all, I ask that each and everyone of you keep that sense of brotherhood among us as we move forward with our lives and can help continue to serve others.

Thanks guys and look for posts about Summer 2009 Alumni events,

LFS,
Garrett

P.S. The new Alumni secretary is Josh Soto. Look forward to posts from him. Also, congratulation to Rachel Shelton (Class of 2007) who got married on April 4, 2009. She is now Rachel West. Best wishes to her and her new husband Luke.
